Florida Sophomore Allie Monserez earns SEC Setter of the Week after sweep at Blackbird Invitational

The Florida Gators volleyball team swept through the competition at the Blackbird Invitational in Long Island, NY this weekend.

Gators Redshirt sophomore Allie Monserez was named SEC Setter of the Week by the conference on Monday.

Monserez set a three-set career high with 38 assists in the Gators straight set victory against Denver on Saturday.

On the weekend Monserez averaged 12.60 assists per set, upping her SEC-leading average to 11.79 on the season.

The #8 Gators defeated Denver 25-17, 25-20, and 25-11 on Saturday and followed that performance with a straight sets victory over host Long Island-Brooklyn on Sunday. The Gators beat the Blackbirds by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-18.

The Gators are now 6-1 following an opening day defeat to #1 Nebraska. The last five matches have all been straight set victories.

The Gators will face Florida State on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
