FINAL: FLORIDA 106, LSU 71

  1st 2nd OT FINAL
FLORIDA 58 48 X 106
LSU 33 38 X 71

BATON ROUGE, LA-  The Florida Gators men’s basketball team needed this.  Florida came into Baton Rouge after two ugly losses including a home loss to a double-digit underdog in Vanderbilt on Saturday.  Florida rebounded in a big way.  The Gators shot a sizzling 56% from the field and 58% from behind the 3-point line.  Florida made a program record 19 three-pointers on Wednesday night.  Florida defended the three-point line much better than they did against Vanderbilt, allowing LSU to make only two of seventeen attempts.

The Gators entered the game at a crossroads.  Last season the Gators fell apart as the NCAA tournament neared and ended up completely missing the tournament.  Florida appeared poised to make the same mistake this year, but the Gators overcame a tough road environment in an arena they hadn’t won at since 2011 to earn the victory.

Devin Robinson led Florida with a career high 24 points and 8 rebounds.  Robinson made 9 of his 15 field goal attempts and shot 5-8 from three.  Freshman Eric Hester scored 16 points off the bench, making all five of his shots (all three-pointers).  Justin Leon scored 15 points in 19 minutes of action.

The Tigers were led by Duop Reath with 15 points.  Skylar Mays (13) and Wayde Sims (12) also scored in double figures for LSU.

Florida improves to 15-5 and 6-2 in SEC play.  LSU falls to 9-10 and 1-7 in the SEC.
