Malik Zaire is about to officially become a Florida Gator. Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports spoke with Zaire Saturday night at the Elite 11 competition and broke the news on Twitter.
Spoke to Malik Zaire. He told me he expects to head to #UF on Wednesday & said he’s very excited about the opportunity to play in the SEC.

On Friday the SEC altered a rule that wouldn’t have allowed Florida to accept graduate transfers due to two former players not meeting academic requirements.
Zaire completed 58-98 passes in his career at Notre Dame for 816 yards and six touchdowns. Zaire has not thrown an interception yet.
In his best single game performance, Zaire completed 19-22 passes for 313 yards and three scores in Notre Dame’s 2015 opener against Texas. Unfortunately, Zaire suffered a season-ending injury the next week and DeShone Kizer took over the starting job and played well enough to get drafted by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft. Zaire is petitioning the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility.
Zaire told Feldman that he would arrive in Gainesville on Wednesday and that he was excited to play against SEC competition.
Zaire is expected to compete with Luke Del Rio, and Feleipe Franks for the starting job in the season opener on September 2 against Michigan.
