Florida completed a 3-0 trip to California for the annual Judi Garman Classic last weekend. On Monday, the SEC announced that Gators pitcher Kelly Barnhill was named the conference’s Pitcher of the Week.
For Barnhill this marks her second consecutive week earning the honor and the seventh time of her career. The seven awards mark the most by any Gator, surpassing Stacey Nelson’s six.
Barhill pitched four innings in the combined shutout against Cal State Fullerton on Thursday which the Gators won 10-0.
Barhill followed that performance with an even more spectacular outing on Saturday. Barnhill threw six of the seven innings in a combined no-hitter against #8 Baylor. She managed to strike out thirteen Bears (Baylor hadn’t struck out more than five times in any of their previous games).
Barhill is now 9-0 with a 0.25 ERA on the season.
Florida will face Kentucky at home this weekend to open SEC play.
