The Florida football season will officially begin a week earlier than previously scheduled.

The University of Florida and the University of Miami have been working with ESPN on moving the date of the season opening contest at the request of the television network, and the move was officially announced on Thursday.

The move allows for the Florida-Miami contest to open in primetime as a celebration of 150 years of college football.

Florida and Miami haven’t played since 2013 but Miami controls a 29-26 series record.
