It’s been an incredible rookie season for New York Mets slugger, Pete Alonso. Just one day after tying Aaron Judge’s MLB rookie record for homers, the former Gators star slugged his way into the top spot.

Alonso now has 53 homers on the season, surpassing Judge’s mark from the 2017 season.

Alonso crushed a 2-1 fastball from Atlanta starter Mike Foltynewicz 415 feet to center. The shot put the Mets up 3-0.

The runaway choice for National League Rookie of the Year is hitting .260 and has recorded 120 RBI in his MLB debut season.
