SOC: Gators to kickoff 2020 season against Georgia

Finally, the wait is over. The Gators will officially open their 2020 soccer season when they welcome the No. 8 Georgia Bulleogs at noon on Sunday at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
The SEC postponed UF’s season-opening game, originally planned on Saturday, Sept. 19 again Missouri, because three Gators tested positive for COVID-19. Everyone on the team quarantined to prevent the spread of the virus.COVID-19 has not only changed the date of the game against the Missouri Tigers.

It has changed the structure of college athletics for the fall semester. For the 2020 fall SEC programs, each team will play a total of eight games in the regular season. After the regular season matches, all 14 teams will make their final appearance of the season in Orange Beach, Alabama, in Nov 13-22 where each team will play at least two games.
About the Gators
The No. 6 Florida Gators will return to action with 34 players, including ten freshmen and two transfers. Nine starters from the 2019 team who made the program’s 22nd NCAA appearance will return this year, including three who earned All-SEC honors, Kit Loferski, Parker Roberts, and Deanne Rose.
Four high school All-American’s Tori Grambo, Izzy Kadzban, Delaney Tauzel, and Sydney Urban are among Florida’s talented freshman class. The Gators will have the service of the winner Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Soccer in Tauzel (United Soccer Coaches).
The Gators can also count on their two transfers. Ansley Frazier ( from Massachusetts) and junior Shaye Seyffart (from Villanova). Seyffart played in every match of the last two seasons for the Wildcats.
About the Bulldogs
Georgia has returned with 10 seniors, including its four senior captains Ashley Andersen, Mollie Belisle, Kayla Bruster, and Katie Higgins. The Bulldogs will also have the service of their 10 juniors, 10 sophomores, and seven freshmen. Georgia’s best weapon is between the posts. Goalkeeper Cecily Stoute holds the record for most starts among active goalkeepers in the SEC.
Series History
The Gators lead 30-3-1. However, the Bulldogs won the last meeting at Athens Stadium last year. It should also be noted that No. 8 Georgia opened its 2020 season with a win over South Carolina.
