VB: Gators Open Spring Season with Sweep of Ole Miss

The No. 10 Gator’s women’s volleyball team swept the Ole Miss Rebels earlier today with a final score of 3-0. This win moves the Gators to a record of 7-2.

With today’s game, the Gators continue to dominate Ole Miss. They are now 53-3 all-time and 44-0 in three-set matches against the Rebels.

Notably, T’ara Ceasar guided the Gators offensively with 12 kills and a .348 clip. Nnedi Okammor led the defense with four blocks.

Set 1: 25-18 UF

The Gators opened the match with a back-and-forth fight against the Rebels. The teams were tied until the Gators took a one-point lead going into a timeout. The two continued to change leads, but Ceasar and Okammor’s final two kills gave the Gators the win.

Set 2: 25-21 UF

The Rebels started out the second set strong. However, the Gators came back with a 6-0 run that put them ahead. The Rebels answered this with a 6-1 run to tie up the set, but the Gators came back from a timeout to defeat them. The Gators hit a .320 clip in this frame, and they held Ole Miss to only a .097.

Set 3: 25-13 UF

The Gators dominated the last set, with a .632 in this frame. They started out strong with a 10-5 lead that only continued to widen as the game went on. The Gators put up nine kills in this set led by Ceasar that determined the fate of the Rebels.

What’s Next?

The Gators will be back in action to finish the series against the Rebels on Saturday at 3 p.m. They will return home Feb. 6 and 7 in a series against the Missouri Tigers.
