Florida forward Jordyn Merritt was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The Texas native scored 12 points while grabbing 9 rebounds in Florida’s loss at Missouri on Sunday. She played 33 minutes of action in the game and has started four straight for the Gators. The nine boards represented a career high while it was just the second time she has reached double digits in the scoring column.
Merritt averaged 7.0 points and 7.5 rebounds over the week.
Florida will face No. 17 Georgia on Sunday at Exactech Arena in the team’s final regular season game. The Gators are 10-11 overall and 3-10 in SEC play.
