Final: Florida Atlantic 3, Florida 2

The Florida Gators fell to 6-3 on the season with a 3-2 loss to Florida Atlantic on Wednesday in Gainesville.
How It Happened:
The Owls opened the scoring in the top of the first as a sacrifice fly by __ Hartigan scored __ Alvarez, who led off the game with a single up the middle.
In the bottom of the first, Florida’s Jacob Young extended his hitting streak to 27 with a lead off single back up the middle. Though Jud Fabian walked to put two on with no outs, the next three hitters recorded outs and the threat ended.
The Gators did break through in the second inning. Freshman Colby Halter hit his first collegiate home run on a 3-2 pitch that also scored Sterlin Thompson.
Florida couldn’t put up a shut down inning after taking the lead. Instead the Owls scored the tying run on __ Murray’s single to right.
Garrett Milchin pitched three innings and gave up five hits and two runs. Kevin O’Sullivan then allowed the arms in the bullpen to take over. LHP Jordan Butler tossed a scoreless inning and RHP Trey Van Der Weide added three innings of work. David Luethje (0.1 innings) and Timmy Manning (1.2 innings) also saw action out of the bullpen.
The Gators offense went three up, three down in six of the final eight innings, but the pitching was sterling until the tenth inning.
Franco Aleman entered the ballgame in the tenth and struck out the leadoff hitter __ DeBose. A single and a fly out had the Gators within one out of moving to the bottom of the frame even. Aleman induced a groundball up the middle that snuck under the glove of Josh Rivera and into centerfield. That was followed by a Hartigan single which scored the lead run and was all the Owls needed to clinch the victory.
