The Florida Gators (16-7) absolutely came ready to play on Saturday afternoon when the No. 12 Auburn Tigers (19-5) came to town.
In front of a packed Stephen O. Connell Center, the Gators dominated, picking up a massive 81-65 victory.
It was Florida 15th straight home victory against Auburn.
Florida came out the gate hot, heading into halftime with an 16-point lead.
The second half was much of the same story, as the Gators kept the foot on the gas.
Florida led by as much as 29 in the contest, while Auburn held no leads.
Off of the Gator bench, sophomore guard Riley Kugel shined, scoring a team-high 22 points.
Alongside Kugel, junior guard Walter Clayton Jr. added 20 points, while senior guard Zion Pullin also contributed with 19 points.
On the other side, the Tigers leading scorer was junior forward Johni Broome with 14 points.
Todd Golden’s squad absolutely shined, adding seven three-pointers, while also shooting a solid 20-26 from the free throw line.
The Gators now sit at 6-4 in conference play, 2.5 games back of the SEC leaders Alabama and South Carolina.
For the Gators, who currently sit as a 10-seed in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s bracketology, every win matters, especially when it’s a quad-one victory.
The Gators will now look to continue their strong momentum as they will face the LSU Tigers (12-11) Tuesday night at the O’Connell Center.
