Freshman left-handed pitcher Olivia Miller has been named SEC Freshman of the Week after throwing a perfect game in her first collegiate start.
Miller debuted on Saturday against Illinois State in relief and made her first start against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Sunday at the USF-Rawlings Invitational in Tampa. She made history as the first freshman pitcher to throw a perfect game and the eighth player to toss a complete-game perfect game in the program.
The Orlando native recorded her first win with five strikeouts, five groundouts and five flyouts in 50 pitches.
Offensively, the Gators dominated the Wildcats and forced the run-rule to end the game in five innings. The final score was 16-0.
Miller is the third freshman pitcher to start for the Gators this season behind Keagan Rothrock and Ava Brown.
The last Gator to receive SEC Freshman Player of the Week was Kendra Falby on February 28, 2022.
