
Tuesday, the Gators were finally able to find some answers in their midweek game struggles. Hitting five homeruns on the night, two from Brody Donay, UF’s offense was in full force. The bullpen provided nine strikeouts, five from Cade Fisher in a 10-7 win against Florida A&M.
Florida A&M got on the board early, putting up three runs in the first. In the bottom of the inning, Caglianone was hit by a pitch and Shelnut reached on a walk. Cade Kurland was able to take advantage of the situation and tie the game, 3-3, with a homerun to right field.
The Rattlers added two more in the second to take the lead and make it 5-3.
Slater’s day ended after two innings and Fisher Jameson took over. Slater gave up six hits and five runs, striking out one batter. Florida A&M added another run to make it 6-3.
The Gators were able to capitalize off of the Ratter’s mistakes again in the third as Heyman and Albert were both hit by pitches, and Donay hit a three run homerun to take a 7-6 lead.
Colby Shelton got in on the homerun party with a solo shot of his own in the fourth, his 13th of the season. Gators now up 8-6.
Jameson again went 1-2-3 in the fourth and fifth innings, providing a strong outing out of the bullpen. His day ended in the sixth after giving up a solo homerun, and Blake Purnell took over. He had three strikeouts on the day.
Cade Fisher entered in the top of the seventh inning, ending Purnell’s day after one and one-third innings and one strikeout.
Caglianone hit his 14th blast of the season in the seventh inning that went 490 feet to right field. Gators up 9-7.
Donay hit his second homerun of the day, his fourth of the season, to make it 10-7.
Cade Fisher closed things out in the ninth with two strikeouts. He finished with five strikeouts out of the bullpen.
Final score, Gators win 10-7 and improve to 17-11 on the season.
The Gators will travel to play a series against Mizzou this weekend. First pitch will be Friday at 7 p.m.
