SB: Walsh’s Blast Powers Gators Past LSU in Series Opener

In a big SEC series against LSU (30-5, 8-5 SEC), the Gators emerged victorious in game one on Saturday in Gainesville by a score of 4-2 thanks to a three-run homerun from Reagan Walsh and another incredible outing from pitcher Keagan Rothrock.

The Tigers and Gators traded blank innings until the sixth inning when LSU got on the board to take a 1-0 lead.

The Gators had a response in the bottom of the inning with a RBI double from Korbe Otis to score Kendra Falby and tie the game 1-1.

The Gators didn’t stop there and took the lead with a three run homerun by Reagan Walsh, her 13th of the season. Gators up 4-1.

The Tigers added on another run in the seventh, but it was too little, too late. The Gators take game one 4-2 and improve to 32-5 overall and 7-2 in the SEC.

Gator pitcher Keagan Rothrock pitched all seven innings, only allowing four hits and two runs, striking out one. She earned the win to improve to 17-3 on the season.

Game two will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
