SB: Gators Drop Series Opener in Columbia

For the first time this season, the No. 9 Gators have lost back-to-back games.

After a tough loss against USF, Florida (34-8, 9-4 SEC) was defeated by No. 14 Missouri in the first game of the three-game series Friday night in Columbia.

The Gators took the lead early from an RBI single from Korbe Otis in the top of the first inning to score Skylar Wallace. From there, they added another run on Ava Brown‘s solo home run in the second.

The Tigers (32-10, 6-7 SEC) evened the score at two in the second when a batter was hit by a pitch in a bases loaded situation and another batter hit a sacrifice fly.

Florida regained the lead in the third with an RBI single from Reagan Walsh.

However, the Gators couldn’t hold off a rally from the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth inning. After a pair of RBI singles and a batter hit by a pitch, Mizzou took a 6-3 lead, which it maintained through the top of the seventh.

Game two of the series will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
