With the No. 12 Gators, it seems like a win is never out of the cards with them, even down to their final out.
At least, that’s what occurred in this afternoon’s rubber match with the No. 11 Bulldogs.
After scoring three runs in the first six innings, Florida (39-12, 14-7 SEC) trailed by a run in the top of the seventh.
Just when the crowd was getting out of its seats to head home, Jocelyn Erickson hit a three-run home run with two outs.
Erickson’s tenth long ball of the season gave the Orange and Blue a 6-4 lead and shifted momentum towards the Gators.
Reagan Walsh went yard in the next at bat, extending the lead to three runs on her sixteenth this season.
After three consecutive walks, Katie Kistler cleared the bases with an RBI triple.
The Bulldogs (37-13, 11-10 SEC) got three back on a three-run home run but failed to complete a rally.
Keagan Rothrock earned her 20th victory and is tied with Stephanie Brombacher for all-time wins among freshmen pitchers.
The win marks the Gators’ sixth SEC series win this season, only dropping one to Missouri two weeks ago.
Looking for revenge, Florida will travel to Tallahassee to take on No. 16 Florida State in midweek play Wednesday evening at 7.
