In the first game of Friday’s double-header, the Gators lost 6-2.

The Volunteers got ahead in the second inning with two runs, taking a 2-0 lead.

Donay made it a brand new tie ballgame, 2-2, with a two run home run in the bottom of the second.

From there, it was all Tennessee, scoring two in the third and one in the eighth and ninth. The Gators lose the first, 6-2. Jake Clemente provided a great outing out of the Gator bullpen, pitching 2.1 innings, only allowing one hit and striking out five.

In the second game of the double-header, the Gators out-hit the Volunteers 9-6 in way to a 4-3 victory to avoid a series defeat.

Brody Donay continued his hot day with another home run in the third, his ninth of the season.

Shelton kept the offense rolling in the third with a two run shot of his own, making it 3-0 Gators.

Tennessee added a run in the fifth to make it 3-1, and then one more in the eighth to make it a one run game, 3-2.

Kurland gave the Gators some breathing room with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, making it 4-2.

The Volunteers added one more run in the ninth to attempt to mount a comeback, but fell short.

The Gators win 4-3 and even the series, 1-1.

Luke McNeillie earned the save, pitching the ninth with one strikeout. Fisher Jameson got the win continuing his recent strong outings with four innings pitched and eight strikeouts. Liam Peterson had a solid outing, his first since getting hit in the arm against Vanderbilt. He pitched four innings and had seven strikeouts, notably getting out of a bases loaded situation in the fourth with a strikeout.

The Gators improve 24-22 on the season and 10-13 in SEC play as they look for their first SEC series win since Mississippi State at the end of March.

The series-deciding game three will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
