JACKSONVILLE, FL- The Florida Gators women’s basketball team opened their season with a rout of South Alabama led by a balanced effort offensively.
Senior Ronni Williams, junior Haley Lorenzon, and sophomore Eleanna Christinaki all scored 16 points to lead Florida. Senior Tyshara Flemming chipped in 11.
The Gators forced 32 turnovers, and outscored the Jaguars 56-4 in the paint. Florida got out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and never let South Alabama back in the game.
The 52-point margin ties the previous program high from 1983.
