The Florida Gators have reversed course and has chosen to cancel Saturday’s game against Northern Colorado. The game will not be rescheduled per the official press release.

Florida had moved the game up to noon from an initial 7:30 PM kickoff.

The state of Florida is currently on alert for the powerful Hurricane Irma. Irma is expected to land as a category five storm in South Florida and move straight up the state.

Many areas of Florida are currently experiencing gas shortages, and clearly the administration made the right move in cancelling the game.

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin also addressed the idea of moving the game to Friday evening:

Stricklin also stated that it would have been unfair to force Northern Colorado to travel under the circumstances.

Florida will now open the home schedule with Tennessee on Sept 16. That game is set for 3:30 PM.
