The University of Florida will soon have a brand new baseball stadium located on the Southwest part of campus, adjacent to the school’s softball stadium.

On Wednesday, the University approved the budget which will allow for a groundbreaking in February.

While the UAA initially planned on opening the new ballpark in 2020, delays have forced a later opening. The team will debut the new stadium on Opening Day, 2021.

The cost of the new ballpark is expected to run at $65 million. The stadium will have a capacity of 7,000 with the ability to expand to 10,000, if necessary.

Despite adding a new stadium to an area with Southwest Rec, the Donald R. Dizney Lacrosse Stadium, and Pressly Stadium, the plan only allowed for 400-500 new parking spots in the area, so make sure you get to the games early!

Once the facility is complete (expected to be in June 2020), the current incarnation of McKethan Stadium will be razed to make way for the new football facility.
