After sweeping the series against No. 14 Arkansas, Florida’s freshman RHP Elizabeth Hightower was named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week for her efforts in the circle.

During the second game of the series, Hightower tossed a five-inning, complete game shutout to help put away the nationally ranked Razorbacks. Hightower is only the second freshman this season to accomplish such a feat.

Hightower left the circle having tallied six strikeouts and two walks. Hightower only allowed three hits on the day.

The last Gator to pitch a complete game shutous shutout against a nationally ranked opponent as a freshman was Kelly Barnhill who torched No. 2 Michigan during opening weekend in 2016.

Florida returns to action on Wednesday as they take on USF at 7 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
