New York Mets rookie slugger Pete Alonso hit his 50th homer Friday night. Alonso became just the second player in MLB history to reach the milestone in his rookie season.

Alonso’s two run shot came in the eighth inning off Cincinnati’s Sal Romano and increased the New York lead to 5-0.

The former Gators star is hitting .266 and has recorded 115 RBI. His 50 homers lead the Majors this season.
