BSB: No. 1 Gators down FAMU behind spectacular outing by Tyler Nesbitt, bullpen

Tyler Nesbitt likely couldn’t have written a better script for his first collegiate start.

The freshman righty tossed four innings, striking out eight and only walking one in addition to allowing just one base hit and leading the Gators to a 5-0 win over Florida A&M.

While Nesbitt starred on the mound, another freshman made his presence known in the batters box.

How It Happened:

Florida got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Josh Rivera singled to left to score Jacob Young, who led off the frame by hitting in his 14th consecutive game.

The Gators added another run in the third when Jordan Butler doubled down the right field line to score Jud Fabian.

Florida broke the game open in the fifth on a pair of home runs including a majestic shot over the scoreboard by freshman Nathan Hickey (first of his career) to lead off the inning. Jordan Butler crushed a two-run shot down the right field line four batters later.

Justin Alintoff, Brandon Sproat, and Ryan Cabarcas finished off the Rattlers out of the bullpen. They allowed just two hits over the final five innings of the contest.
