Florida traveled to Boca Raton on Tuesday and defeated Florida Atlantic, 7-3 to extend its undefeated start to a program record twelve games.

How It Happened:

The Gators got on the board early with three runs in the first inning. Following a Jud Fabian single to open the contest, Austin Langworthy doubled to the left center field gap to score Fabian. Two batters later Kendrick Calilao singled up the middle that plated Langworthy. Then, with the bases loaded, Kris Armstrong was hit by a pitch that forced Calilao in.

The Owls chipped at the lead with a two-run homer by BJ Murray. They managed to tie the game in the second after a leadoff triple and a pair of singles.

The Gators took the lead for good in the third when they added a pair of runs highlighted by an RBI single by Corey Acton.

Florida added two insurance runs in the eighth when Josh Rivera scored on Langworthy’s fielder’s choice.

Ben Specht finished the game for the Gators by striking out the side despite allowing the tying run to reach the plate.

Florida overcame a rough outing by Jordan Butler on the mound to reach the 12-0 mark for the first time. David Luethje, Christian Scott, and Ben Specht all got the job done out of the bullpen without allowing a run.
