The No. 8 Florida Gators women’s volleyball team took another clean sweep over the Tennessee Lady Volunteers Friday afternoon in Knoxville. This was the second of two games, cinching the series victory for Florida.

Tennessee came into the match looking to put up a significant fight to seek revenge against Florida after the results of yesterday’s sweep. The first two sets of the match saw significant moves by both teams, but a highly skilled Florida team just kept the edge on Tennessee.

The final set of the game allowed the Gators to demonstrate in full their abilities. With numerous kills, Florida was just too much for Tennessee,

Set 1: 25-23 UF

Similar to the match yesterday, Tennessee came out with an early lead over Florida 6-3. However, Florida came back to notch away at Tennessee’s lead, tying up the two teams 13-13. The middle part of the set saw some toe-to-toe action as neither team held a significant advantage over the other until the Gators pulled a slight lead 21-19. However, Tennessee began to catch back up until Monserez put in a final kill to secure the first win of the day for Florida.

Set 2: 29-27 UF

Florida came out with the early lead for the second set with a score of 6-1. Tennessee put in the work to slowly tick away Florida’s lead which eventually tied the two teams up 13-13. After this point in the match, the teams saw significant back-and-forth action. Neither team could get a large lead over the other. However, a few attack errors by Tennessee late in the match gave Florida their second win of the match.

Set 3: 25-16 UF

After a tough second set, Florida returned to action strong, putting up a 6-2 lead over Tennessee. In fact, the Gators held the slight advantage the entire set over Tennessee. Florida put up a monumental number of kills in the set that gave Tennessee no chance. The Gators began to seal their win when they achieved a 9-point lead, putting the score at 22-13. Florida cinched the win of the final set and of the match with a final block by Hall and Thayer.
