The No. 8 Florida Gators women’s volleyball team swept the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in Knoxville with a final score of 3-0 on Thursday. This win advances the Gators to an overall record of 11-2.

The three sets of this match mirrored each other. Similar mistakes made by Tennessee cost them their advantage, and a ruthless Florida offensive and defensive effort put Florida back on top and gave them the match win.

Set 1: 25-20 UF

It was somewhat of a slow start for Florida, trailing Tennessee 9-4. Florida called a timeout and came back to tick away Tennessee’s lead, going on a 11-6 run to take the advantage, 18-16 . The Gators completed an impressive three straight blocks before Tennessee began to notch at the Gators lead. However, the Gators went on a 4-1 run that ultimately gave them the win in the first set.

Set 2: 25-18 UF

Similar to the first set, Tennessee came out strong with a lead over Florida 4-0, and Florida answered with an impressive 9-3 run to give them a two-point advantage at 9-7. The set saw back-and-forth action until Florida ultimately took a three-point lead with a score of 18-15 over Tennessee. Florida finished the set strong, completing a 7-3 run that cinched the second win of the day for Florida.

Set 3: 25-21 UF

Similar to the two previous sets, Tennessee started the set strong with a lead over Florida 9-3. In a similar fashion Florida went on a massive run to cinch the lead. This time Florida went on a 9-2 run to pull ahead. The teams then went toe-to-toe in action.
