It didn’t take long. Just five days after former head coach Mike White bolted for rival Georgia, the Florida Gators have a new men’s basketball head coach.

UF athletic director Scott Stricklin announced the hiring of Todd Golden, who was previously the head coached for San Francisco. Golden has led the Dons to a 57-36 record in three seasons at the helm.

The Dons finished the 2021-22 campaign with 24 wins and secured the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998. Seven seed Murray State ended San Francisco’s season on Thursday, 92-87.

Golden spent three years as the associate head coach at San Francisco before taking over. Prior to his stint in California, the 36 year old spent time on coaching staffs in the SEC (Auburn) and Ivy League (Columbia).
