CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time since 2010 the Florida Gators women’s soccer team opened their season unbeaten through six games with a 1-0 win against UNC Charlotte. The game was shortened by 8 minutes due to lightning in the area.

The game was scoreless heading into the half but the Gators controlled most of the possession with three shots in the half.

In the 51st minute, freshman Lena Bailey scored her third goal of the season after a spin move around the defender just outside the box. Oakley Rasmussen was credited with the assist.

The defense was once again the driving factor of the game, with the 49ers having no shots the entire game.

Goalkeeper Alexa Goldberg recorded her fourth clean sheet of the year.

The Gators are on the road once again when they travel to Tallahassee to take on the fifth-ranked Florida State Seminoles. The game is on Sunday, September 10 at 3:30. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
