
The Gators hosted their second SEC opponent of the weekend Sunday. UF battled the Kentucky Wildcats but fell 3-1. Florida moves to 14-7 in regular season play and 6-6 in conference action.
Kentucky came out victorious in a highly competitive first set 25-23. The Gators fought back in the second frame to even the match after a 25-20 win. Kentucky answered with a 25-21 win in set three and capped off their road victory while cruising to a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Freshman Kennedy Martin continued her dominant play offensively for Florida. Martin posted her second consecutive 25+ kill match. She tallied 27 total kills for the Gators.
Senior Sofia Victoria followed Martin’s lead on the offensive side of the net with nine kills of her own. Gabi Essix rounded out UF’s offensive attack with seven kills respectively.
Grad transfer Kennedy Muff facilitated the Gators offense dishing out 47 assists in Sunday’s matchup. Muff led the team to a .229 hitting efficiency.
Florida put on an impressive display defensively. The team tallied 13 blocks at the net with Essix leading the way with seven blocks. AC Fitzpatrick was just behind her with six and Nnedi Okammor had five.
The backcourt for the Gators was led by Senior Elli McKissock who posted a team-high 19 digs.
The Gators will continue their SEC slate as they host the LSU Tigers Friday, Nov. 10. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida.
