• LAX: Gators Open NCAA Tournament With Rematch vs UNC

    The Florida Gators lacrosse program finds themselves in post-season play for the thirteenth consecutive year. This year, the Gators (17-2, 6-0 AAC) open NCAA tournament action with a rematch from earlier in the season.

    Florida will face North Carolina for the seventeenth time in program history. The two programs will take part in the Charlottesville, VA regional Friday at 6:00 PM. The winner will advance to face the winner of the Virginia-Long Island University contest that takes places at 3:00 PM Friday.

    The Gators offensive attack is led by Maggi Hall who has recorded 99 points (49 goals, 50 assists). This is the third highest total in the nation. Danielle Pavinelli has added 80 points on 47 goals and 33 assists. Emily Heller has scored 41 goals on the season.

    Liz Harrison earned All-AAC honors after a record breaking year in the draw circle. She set program records for most draw controls in a game, season, and career in 2024.

    Theresa Bragg and Kaitlyn Davies (both second team All-AAC) anchor the Florida defense. While GK Elyse Finnelle (AAC goalkeeper of the year) has recorded an 8.80 goals against average on the year while stopping more than half (51.9%) of the shots she’s faced.

    UNC: 10-6, 6-3 ACC, #18 RPI

    The Gators have won seventeen straight games since suffering a 19-10 loss to the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill in February. In that contest, Florida was tied at halftime, but was outscored 11-2 in the second half.

    For Florida to continue their season, they’ll have to re-write the script that played out in that second half.

  • BSB: Gators Pitching Dominates USF Hitters in Midweek Matchup

    The Gators picked up a critical midweek win Tuesday night with their regular season quickly coming to a close. Out-hitting USF 11-5, the Gators got a 4-1 in victory to keep them above .500 on the season.

    To get the Gators on the board Jac Caglianone hit his 27th home run of the season. Gators up 1-0 in teh first.

    The Gators added on one run in both the second and the third to make it 3-0.

    USF’s lone run of the game came in the sixth inning off of a solo home run to make it 3-1.

    The Gators added on another from an RBI double from Shelnut to score Shelton. Gators up 4-1.

    Final, UF wins 4-1. They improve to 25-23 on the season; they will need to stay above .500 on the season to be able to be eligible for the NCAA tournament.

    Cade Fisher gets the win on the night after pitching 2.2 innings with one strikeout. Brandon Neely earned the save, coming in the ninth inning and picking up one strikeout. The pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts on the night, McNeillie leading with three and Jameson with two of his own.

    The Gators will take on Kentucky for their last home series of the regular season. First pitch will be Friday at 6:30 p.m. With Brandon Neely now moved back to his closer position for the rest of the season, the weekend rotation will be shaken up again.

  • BSB: Eleven Run Sixth Inning Dooms Gators vs Tennessee

    Despite the Gators being in the position to win their first SEC series since the end of March, Tennessee put up 11 runs in the sixth inning, proving too much to handle. Florida loses 16-3 in seven innings with Caglianone suffering his first loss on the mound this season.

    Back in the leadoff spot for the Gators, Kurland got things going with a double. Despite struggling Friday, Evans showed no signs of that with a two run home run, giving the Gators an early 2-0 lead.

    The Gators added on another in the third, making it 3-0.

    From there, it was all Volunteers, scoring two in the fourth and then exploding for 11 in the sixth. They added on three more in the seventh, run ruling the Gators.

    Gators lose 16-3 in seven innings. They fall to one game above .500 on the season, 24-23, 10-14 SEC. Jac Caglianone suffers his first pitching loss, now 5-1. He pitched five innings and had five strikeouts.

    The Gators will take on USF at home 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Then, they will welcome Kentucky next weekend for their last regular season SEC series at home.

  • SB: Gators Clinch Series With Wild Walk-Off Winner

    On an afternoon that began with the Florida softball program honoring the senior class, it was a sophomore catcher that provided the big hit to propel the team to a series win in walk-off fashion. Jocelyn Erickson sent a 2-2 pitch into left field with the bases loaded that plated Mia Williams to give the Gators the 9-8 win over Texas A&M in extra innings.

    Florida opened the game with three runs in the first inning following doubles from each of Korbe Otis, Skylar Wallace, and Ava Brown.

    The Aggies struck for a pair of runs in the second on a home run but Florida increased its advantage to 7-2 on Otis’ grand slam in the bottom half of the inning. A sacrifice fly by Walsh extended the lead to 8-1.

    But Texas A&M wasn’t done. The Aggies managed to come all the way back, in part due to a pair of mistakes on the same play that resulted in four runs in the fifth inning.

    TAMU evened the score in the top of the seventh to force extra innings and to set up Erickson’s heroics.

    Florida freshman pitcher, Brown, threw a complete game (8 innings) and 149 pitches. At the plate, Otis finished the day 4-5 with 5 RBI and two runs scored. Kendra Falby went 3-5 while also recorded three hits.

    The Gators have a chance to sweep the nation’s number 8 team in the season finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM Sunday.

  • BSB: Gators Split Double-Header vs No. 3 Tennessee

    In the first game of Friday’s double-header, the Gators lost 6-2.

    The Volunteers got ahead in the second inning with two runs, taking a 2-0 lead.

    Donay made it a brand new tie ballgame, 2-2, with a two run home run in the bottom of the second.

    From there, it was all Tennessee, scoring two in the third and one in the eighth and ninth. The Gators lose the first, 6-2. Jake Clemente provided a great outing out of the Gator bullpen, pitching 2.1 innings, only allowing one hit and striking out five.

    In the second game of the double-header, the Gators out-hit the Volunteers 9-6 in way to a 4-3 victory to avoid a series defeat.

    Brody Donay continued his hot day with another home run in the third, his ninth of the season.

    Shelton kept the offense rolling in the third with a two run shot of his own, making it 3-0 Gators.

    Tennessee added a run in the fifth to make it 3-1, and then one more in the eighth to make it a one run game, 3-2.

    Kurland gave the Gators some breathing room with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, making it 4-2.

    The Volunteers added one more run in the ninth to attempt to mount a comeback, but fell short.

    The Gators win 4-3 and even the series, 1-1.

    Luke McNeillie earned the save, pitching the ninth with one strikeout. Fisher Jameson got the win continuing his recent strong outings with four innings pitched and eight strikeouts. Liam Peterson had a solid outing, his first since getting hit in the arm against Vanderbilt. He pitched four innings and had seven strikeouts, notably getting out of a bases loaded situation in the fourth with a strikeout.

    The Gators improve 24-22 on the season and 10-13 in SEC play as they look for their first SEC series win since Mississippi State at the end of March.

    The series-deciding game three will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

  • SB: Gators Hold On To Defeat Seminoles in Extra Innings

    For the first time since 2021, the Florida Gators (40-12) defeated their rivals from Tallahassee, Florida State (40-11). The two teams needed extra innings to decide the victor, but the Gators came out on top, 15-13.

    The Gators got out to a quick start, scoring in their first at bat on Regan Walsh’s RBI single that plated Jocelyn Erickson. The Seminoles answered however and took a 2-1 lead on a Jaysoni Beachum homer in the bottom half of the inning.

    Florida struck for two more in the top of the second to regain the lead but FSU countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the second to even the score. The Seminoles added another home run to the ledger in the third to go ahead, 4-3.

    The Gators would continue getting good at-bats and broke through again in the fourth when Korbe Otis hit an RBI double and was followed by an Erickson homer to right center and the Gators took a 7-4 lead through four innings.

    Florida would add to the advantage in the fifth with four runs, including an infield, RBI-single by Kendra Falby that plated Katie Kistler.

    Trailing 11-4, the Seminoles began to mount a comeback in the bottom of the sixth when Jahni Kerr hit a two run homer to close the gap. Florida pitching allowed a run by walking in a run. Florida led 11-7 heading into the final frame.

    Once again, the Florida offense rebounded to give the Gators a bigger cushion. Otis hit a two run homer to increase the lead to six.

    The Seminoles, however, weren’t done yet. FSU came all the way back and evened the score on a three-run blast from Kalei Harding, her second of the game.

    The Gators finally broke through in the ninth as Kendra Falby homered barely over the right centerfield fence. Florida tacked on another run on a bases loaded walk to take a 15-13 lead into the bottom of the ninth.

    The Seminoles got a one out runner on but that was eliminated on a double play to end the inning.

    Falby finished the night 5-6 with four runs scored and four RBI. Otis went 2-3 with a double and a homer and 4 RBI. In the circle, Keagan Rothrock tossed 7.2 innings to pick up her twenty-first win of the year. She threw more than 150 pitches in the effort.

    The Gators will host No. 8 Texas A&M from Friday through Sunday.

  • BSB: Gators Top Owls in Midweek Action

    After scoring in five different innings, the Gators baseball team defeated FAU at home 10-8.

    Florida (23-21, 9-12 SEC), found themselves down early as the Owls (22-20, 9-9 AAC) scored two runs in the first. But, the Gators answered quickly, scoring three runs of their own in the latter half of the inning thanks to plays from Luke Heyman and Cade Kurand.

    In the second inning, starter Cade Fisher was relieved for Ryan Slater, who instantly struck out two batters.

    In the bottom of the second, Florida extended their lead 5-2 thanks to a Kurland solo home run and a run from Hayden Yost.

    Florida Atlantic would respond, however, scoring two runs of their own in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-4.

    The Gators answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Yost scored for the second time on a double from Brody Donay, who finished 2-3 with two RBIs. Ty Evans then hit a two-run homer to left field to give the Gators a 8-4 lead. Evans added to his career high, as he now has 12 home runs this season.

    But, once again the Owls wouldn’t back down, as they scored two runs in the sixth to cut the Gators lead 8-6.

    Yost and Evans came up huge for Florida in the seventh, increasing the lead to 9-6. Yost advanced to third base from a sacrifice bunt from Donay, and Evans capped it off with a sacrifice fly ball to allow Yost to score.

    The Gators would end up scoring in the eighth a from Colby Shelton run to up the lead 10-6.

    But, the Owls did not go down without a fight, as they rallied for two runs in the ninth. It was all for not, as the Orange and Blue secured the 10-8 victory following a 4-6-3 double-play from Fisher Jameson.

    Slater earned the victory for the Gators, as he was charged with four hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

    Florida will stay at home this weekend, as they will host the No. 3 ranked Tennessee Volunteers for their series starting Thursday at 7 p.m.

  • SB: Florida scores seven in the seventh, rallies past UGA

    With the No. 12 Gators, it seems like a win is never out of the cards with them, even down to their final out.

    At least, that’s what occurred in this afternoon’s rubber match with the No. 11 Bulldogs.

    After scoring three runs in the first six innings, Florida (39-12, 14-7 SEC) trailed by a run in the top of the seventh.

    Just when the crowd was getting out of its seats to head home, Jocelyn Erickson hit a three-run home run with two outs.

    Erickson’s tenth long ball of the season gave the Orange and Blue a 6-4 lead and shifted momentum towards the Gators.

    Reagan Walsh went yard in the next at bat, extending the lead to three runs on her sixteenth this season.

    After three consecutive walks, Katie Kistler cleared the bases with an RBI triple.

    The Bulldogs (37-13, 11-10 SEC) got three back on a three-run home run but failed to complete a rally.

    Keagan Rothrock earned her 20th victory and is tied with Stephanie Brombacher for all-time wins among freshmen pitchers.

    The win marks the Gators’ sixth SEC series win this season, only dropping one to Missouri two weeks ago.

    Looking for revenge, Florida will travel to Tallahassee to take on No. 16 Florida State in midweek play Wednesday evening at 7.

  • BSB: Gators Split Double-Header Thanks to Caglianone’s Heroics

    In the first game of the double-header, the Razorbacks got on the board first in the bottom of the third, going up 1-0.

    The Gators tied things up, 1-1, with Donay scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth inning.

    The Gators took a 4-1 lead in the seventh in a three run inning. Evans had an RBI double, and Shelton and Heyman had an RBI singles.

    The Razorbacks then took the lead, 6-4, with a five run inning of their own.

    The Gators added another in the eighth, 6-5. They loaded the bases with one out, but the inning ended on a double play with a running miscommunication on third base because of a fake out by the Razorback’s centerfielder.

    They lose a close first game, 6-5, after multiple missed opportunities. Brandon Neely provided a solid outing with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

    Looking to avoid the sweep in the series finale, the Gators offense found a spark in the second game of the double-header.

    Even though Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the second, UF responded with a RBI single from Michael Robertson to tie it 1-1.

    The Gators had a six run inning in the top of the fourth with a RBI single from Albert. The Gators added another with a walk.

    Jac Caglianone had a grand slam for his 26th home run of the season. The Gators now up 7-1. Caglianone pitched four innings, striking out four, doing everything for the Gators Saturday.

    Arkansas added two more in the bottom of the fourth, UF still up 7-3.

    Evans added on two more for the Gators with a home run to left field in the sixth, his 11th of the season. Gators up big 9-3.

    The Razorbacks continued fight back, adding on another run in the bottom of the sixth, making it 9-4. They added another on in the bottom of the eighth, but could not mount a full comeback.

    Final score, Gators win 9-5.

    The Gators win and take game three and avoid going below .500 on the season, now 22-21, 9-12 SEC. Up next for the Gators, they will host Florida Atlantic Tuesday. Then, they will face Tennessee at home starting Thursday at 7 p.m.

  • SB: Georgia Evens Series With 11-6 Win Over Gators

    After a big mercy-rule win in the first game of the series, the No. 12 Gators dropped the second to the No. 11 Bulldogs.

    The starting pitcher Ava Brown ended with seven earned runs through four and one third innings of play.

    She also gave Florida (38-12, 13-7 SEC) a run on a solo shot in the sixth.

    Ariel Kowalewski broke the shutout on a grand slam to left center field in the top of the fourth.

    While Korbe Otis homered as well, the Bulldogs’ (37-12, 11-9 SEC) offense more than responded.

    The Georgia offense totaled 12 hits and five home runs.

    They scored 11 runs to the Gators’ six, and Florida ultimately fell.

    The Gators will go for the series win Sunday at noon.
