Gators soccer suffers golden goal defeat 

PALO ALTO, CA-  The #6 Florida Gators soccer team dropped a tough match against the #3 Stanford Cardinal Friday night. 

Most of the game was played in the midfield, but Stanford did manage to outshoot Florida 19-7 and earned an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks. 

Stanford’s sophomore midfielder Jordan DiBiasi poked home a rebounded shot in the 96th minute to end the game on the golden goal. 

Florida’s sophomore goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese set a new career best with six saves. 

Gators senior Meggie Dougherty Howard received a yellow card in the 37th minute. 

Up next: Florida will face #16 UCLA in Los Angeles on Sunday at 6:00 PM EST.
