Tallahassee, FL- The #7 Florida Gators volleyball team has played eight matches this season, but not a single home match thus far. That changes Friday night.
On Wednesday the Gators defeated #13 Florida State 3-1 to complete the season opening road trip. Florida won by scores of 27-25, 19-25, 25-22, and 25-19.
The victory was Florida’s first at Tully Gym since 2010.
The Gators set a season high for blocks with 16 led by freshman Rachael Kramer with 8 and junior Rhamat Alhassan with 7.
Senior Alex Holston led the Gators with 15 kills, while Alhassan contributed 14 more.
Redshirt sophomore Allie Monserez led the Gators with 45 assists. Monserez was named SEC Setter of the Week on Monday after her performance over the weekend at the Blackbird Invitational in New York.
The Gators are now 7-1, while FSU falls to 6-2.
Up Next: The Gators will host the Active Ankle Challenge this weekend. On Friday UF will face FAMU at noon, and will play Jacksonville University at 7:30 PM. The Gators will conclude the tournament on Saturday against Marshall. That match is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
