GATORS WIN ACTIVE ANKLE CHALLENGE FOR FIRST HOME WINS OF 2016

Gainesville, FL- The Florida Gators volleyball team finally played matches at their temporary home at the Lemerand Athletic Center on the UF campus.  The Gators hosted the Active Ankle Challenge, and dominated play to earning the tournament title and improving their overall record to 10-1.  Florida players Carli Snyder, Rhamat Alhassan, and Alex Holston were named to the All-Tournament team for their performances.  The Gators swept Florida A&M and Jacksonville before suffering a first set loss to Marshall on Saturday.

The Gators were led by a team effort in the first match as Alex Holston recorded 12 kills and 3 blocks while Rachael Kramer had 8 kills.  Caroline Knop led Florida with 10 digs, and Allie Monserez had 37 assists.

Against Jacksonville, Carli Snyder led Florida with 15 kills and also contributed 9 digs.  Alhassan and Kramer led the Gators with 3 blocks each, Knop had 13 digs.  Monserez again led the Gators with 41 assists.

Against Marshall, Florida lost the first set, but rebounded to win the final three sets.  Snyder had the best match of her career as she notched 21 kills and registered 21 points, both of which are career highs.  Holston had 17 kills and 8 blocks, while Alhasssan provided 13 kills and eight blocks.  Monserez posted her first double-double as a Gator with a career high 53 assists and 12 digs.
