The Augusta Sports Council and Ray Guy Award has named Florida Gators punter Johnny Townsend the NCAA Punter of the Week.
Townsend helped Florida win the field position battle, playing an important role in the Gators’ 13-6 victory at Vanderbilt.

Townsend averaged 51.9 yards per punt and downed five kicks inside the Commodores 20 yard line.

Townsend was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award last season and was named a semifinalist for William V. Campbell Award. The Campbell Trophy is presented to the athlete that best combines academics, community service, and on-field performance.  It is considered the “Academic” Heisman Trophy.
