NORMAN, OK- Florida entered the Big 12/SEC Challenge with a tough road test against Oklahoma. The Gators were coming off a 35-point victory at LSU, but needed to follow that win up with another important victory. The Gators used a career day from Kevarrius Hayes to defeat the Sooners. Hayes scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a reserve role for Florida. The 20 points represent a career high for Hayes. Florida also played terrific defense, as Oklahoma only made 27.7 % of their field goal attempts, including shooting 1-16 from the three point line.
Canyon Barry scored 15 points, 13 of which were scored in the first half. Devin Robinson added 13 and Kasey Hill chipped in 12 points for the Gators. Hill also assisted on eight baskets.
The Sooners were led by Rashard Odomes who scored 13 points. Kameron McGusty was the only other Sooner in double-digis with 10 points.
Florida is now 16-5 with two strong road victories in their last two contests. Florida will return to Gainesville on Thursday to face Missouri before a Saturday Showdown with Kentucky. Oklahoma falls to 8-12 on the season.
