LAX: Gators get road win at Elon

Final: Florida 15, Elon 5

The Florida Gators lacrosse team traveled to North Carolina and defeated Elon 15-5 on Thursday. The Gators needed a win after suffering three straight losses to Top-20 teams.

Game Trends:

Senior Sydney Pirreca scored the first goal of the game eight minutes in as she beat the defense and found the back of the net.

Elon would strike three minutes later on a free position attempt to even the score, but Florida went on a 4-0 run to take command of the game.

The 5-1 lead came on goals from Hannah Mardiney, Lindsey Ronbeck (twice), and Brianna Harris.

After another Elon goal on a free position attempt, Florida’s Grace Haus netted two goals in a 21-second span just before halftime.

Pirreca added two goals to open the second half and stretch the lead to 9-2.

After an Elon score, Shannon Kavanagh quickly returned the favor, scoring her first of the game.

Eddy Schoop, Harris, and Alix Lopez each added tallies to make it a 13-3 and force a running clock.

Freshman Maddie McMaster netted her first collegiate goal with 5:32 remaining in regulation and put Florida back on top by ten goals (14-4).

The Gators defense caused 15 turnovers and won the draw control battle 17-5.
