Former Gators softball star Amanda Lorenz is no stranger to earning weekly honors.
On Tuesday, Lorenz earned her first professional weekly honor as she was named National Pro Fastpitch’s Rookie of the Week.

Lorenz enjoyed a 4-11 week at the plate to go along with a homer and 3 RBI. To end the week, she recorded back-to-back 2-hit, 2-run games as the USSSA Pride handed the Chicago Bandits their first two losses of the season.
The home run was a sixth inning solo shot off former UF teammate Kelly Barnhill.

On the season, the Moorpark, CA native is hitting .316 with two homers and five RBI.
Former Gators Kelly Barnhill and Aleshia Ocasio pitched for Chicago in the two game set against the Pride.
Ocasio pitched in a relief role in game one, allowing three earned runs in two innings of work.
Barnhill tossed three innings of relief in game two, giving up two earned runs while striking out three.
Gators assistant coach Jolene Henderson started and earned the win in game two with a 4 inning, 1 run, 2 strikeout performance.
