On Tuesday the Florida baseball team will have a chance to achieve something no other UF team has accomplished in the 100+ year history of the program.

The 2020 incarnation has the opportunity to open the season with twelve straight wins with a victory over Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on Tuesday.

So let’s get right into the wrap-up:

Pitcher of the Week: Tommy Mace

  • 1-0, 7 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K

Florida’s ace engaged in an old fashioned pitchers duel on Friday night.

Unfortunately, for the righty from Tampa, it looked like he was going to take his first L of the season, until the Gators’ offense picked him up in the bottom of the seventh.

Despite scattering nine hits, Mace kept his team in the game and didn’t walk a single batter.

Player of the Week: Jacob Young

  • 6-12, BB, R

For the second straight week, Jacob Young is the choice.

Despite not hitting for power or recording a single extra base hit, Young went 6-12 and extended his hitting streak to ten games and has hit safely multiple times in six straight. Overall his batting average is .436 on the season and his on-base percentage is .500.
