Following a 7-1 road victory Tuesday over UNF, No. 4 Florida run-ruled the Ospreys Wednesday in Gainesville after just five innings.
After she dealt a complete-game shutout against Villanova last Saturday, Florida right-hander Natalie Lugo started in the circle and threw her second career no-hitter. The fifth-year West Covina, California, native gave up a trio of walks that sabotaged her perfect game, but Lugo picked up her third win in just four starts this season.
At the plate, the Gators jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first before they tacked on five insurance runs in the third. Freshman shortstop Reagan Walsh hit an opposite-field, bases-clearing double before the Redondo Beach, California, native roped a first-pitch, RBI double into the gap an inning later to grant Florida a run-rule advantage.
