Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin finally made the announcement that Gators fans have been clamoring for. After a successful regular season as the interim head coach, Kelly Rae Finley had been tabbed as the program’s eleventh head coach.

The Gators finished the regular season 20-9 and defeated five ranked teams en route to earning the fifth seed in this week’s SEC Tournament in Nashville.

For Florida, 2021-22 was just the sixteenth twenty win season in program history while achieving ten conference victories for just the fourth time.

Prior to gaining the interim tag, Finley served as the associate head coach and head coach since arriving at UF in 2017. She also served stints as an assistant coach with Arizona, Colorado, and Harvard.

Florida will face the winner of Vanderbilt and Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
