GAINESVILLE, FL-  After many Gators baseball fans feared manager Kevin O’Sullivan would leave Florida for Texas after last season, UF knew they had to act to keep their manager. First came the announcement of facility upgrades, and now it has been reported that O’Sullivan has signed a 10-year extension worth $12.5 million.

Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball and Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald were the first to report the new extension.

The extension makes “Sully” the best paid coach in college baseball, and should ease fans’ minds that he may end up leaving. O’Sullivan was mentioned as a candidate for the Clemson (his alma mater) after the 2015 season, and the Texas job after 2016. Texas is considered the preeminent job in college baseball due to an enormous budget and incredible facilities.

O’Sullivan has led the Gators to a 396-189 record in his ten seasons at the helm. Florida has made the postseason in each season and been to five College World Series’ with O’Sullivan.
