“I really loved it,” the 6’5″ 315-pound lineman said of his UF visit. “I like it here. Great atmosphere. I really love the Florida Gators.
“I know [Dan Mullen] is a great coach and I know he actually knows what he’s doing. That’s what I want to play for, so it’s a great impression.”
John Hevesy has been Harrod’s primary recruiter and spent a great deal of time with the Fort Washington, Maryland native.
“Great coach, he’s straightforward, no sugar coating, none of that,” Harrod said. “That’s the kind of coach I would really like to play for. He really has a bond with his O-line. We watched some film and he taught me some stuff that will come in handy for my next game. Technique, mostly. You don’t have to destroy your guy on the field, but if you have technique and fundamentals that’s my main thing.”
Harrod was the recipient of 32 offers and the Gators beat out schools like Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and FSU on the way to landing their fourth OL commitment in this cycle. With the pick-up, Florida now has 14 total commitments and jumped to No. 21 in the recruiting rankings (247Sports).
Harrod has a 247Sports composite rating of 0.90 with an overall ranking of 304, while being considered the No. 5 overall recruit in the state of Maryland and the No. 31 OT overall.
