The search is over. Following the retirement of long-time play-by-play broadcaster Mick Hubert, the University of Florida embarked on a national search for the next ‘Voice of the Gators’. Wednesday, the athletic department announced Sean Kelley as the new play-by-play broadcaster.

Kelley, 50, is originally from St. Louis and has been the lead play-by-play broadcaster for ESPN Radio for the last three seasons.

After graduating from Southern Illinois, Kelley took over play-by-play responsibilities for Tulane University football games. In 2005, Kelley began broadcasting for the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA. He held the position for 14 years.

Kelley’s first assignment at ESPN was Florida’s win over Miami at Camping World Stadium to kick off the 2019 college football season.

Kelley’s first assignment as the voice of the Gators will be the football opener against Utah on September 3.
