• Gainesville-  A new ESPN release has rocked the Gator Nation.

ESPN’s Paula Lavigne and Mark Schlabach are reporting that Florida Gators star WR Antonio Callaway and former QB Treon Harris are accused of sexually assaulting a woman in early December of 2015.

Both players have been suspended since January, and only recently was Callaway allowed to return to campus to attend classes and work out with the football team.

Head coach Jim McElwain said at Florida’s media day on Wednesday that there was no status change on Callaway as far as when he would return.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Gainesville Sun’s Robbie Andreu reported that sources confirmed that Callaway would be eligible to play in the opener on September 3.

Harris announced last month his intentions to transfer from UF.

According to the ESPN report the victim has boycotted the Title IX hearing upon learning that a prominent Gators booster will preside.

The victims attorney John Clune said “this has been a difficult decision but as I previously indicated, the fact that UF has hired a football booster to adjudicate a sexual assault against one of the teams own football players is a fundamentally skewed process which (the victim) refuses to participate.”

  • Gainesville-  The preseason Amway Coaches poll was released today. The Gators surprisingly are included at number 25.

Florida faces a number of questions heading into fall camp that make their inclusion surprising including the question mark at quarterback.

Treon Harris struggled last year after Will Grier was suspended, and both players have transferred from UF since the end of last season. Luke Del Rio appears to be the leader, but offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier said that Purdue transfer Austin Appleby is still in contention as camp begins.

Six SEC schools are among the top 25 including Alabama (#1), LSU (#6), Tennessee (#10), Ole Miss (#12) and Georgia (#16).

Two Florida schools were in the top 25 including Florida State (#4), and two other Florida schools received votes but didn’t make the top 25 (Miami and South Florida)

  • Report: Callaway to play in Gators opener

Gainesville-  According to a source of Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun, Florida WR Antonio Callaway will be cleared to play in the Gators season opener on September 3 against UMASS.

Andreu’s source also stated that the issue that has kept Callaway suspended since January may not be completely resolved prior to the opener, but Callaway should be eligible.

Callaway was the Gators’ leading receiver in 2015 as a true freshman with 35 catches for 678 yards and four receiving touchdowns. He also scored two touchdowns on kick returns and was named an All-American as a return specialist by CBS Sports.

  • Steve Spurrier back home in the Swamp

Gainesville-  Former Gators player and coach Steve Spurrier is returning to the University with a new title. Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley announced the news Friday.
Spurrier will become the new ambassador and consultant for Florida Athletics.

“It’s a great day for the Gator Nation to be able to welcome Coach Spurrier back home,” Foley said. “He has served as a tremendous ambassador to the University and the athletic department for fifty plus years.”

Spurrier has been a Gator since 1963 when he enrolled at UF on a football scholarship. Spurrier is originally from Johnson City, Tennessee.

  • Gators WR target Jerry Judy to announce commitment tomorrow

Four-star wide receiver prospect and Florida Gators target Jerry Jeudy will announce which school he is committing to play for on Thursday at 8:30 pm.

Jeudy just competed, and dominated, at Florida’s annual Friday Night Lights recruiting gala. Jeudy is listed as 6-1 and 177 LBS.

Jeudy is the number one ranked receiver in the country by multiple recruiting sites. Jeudy has a top-5 of: Alabama, Florida, Miami, Florida State, and Tennessee. He recently has attended camps at both Florida and Miami.

Florida hopes to capitalize on the recent commitment of Clearwater, FL running back Adarius Lemons (also attended FNL) and pair him with Jeudy.

24/7 sports has Jeudy as a 97% lean to Alabama. Tomorrow we will find out for sure. Keep tuned.

  • Gators C Gorjok Gak ineligible to play in 2016-17

Incoming Florida men’s basketball player Gorjok Gak was ruled ineligible for the 2016-17 season, however he is eligible to enroll in classes and work out with the team. Gak must meet progress marks for eligibility in 2017-18 after committing to Florida from Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Florida.

Gak was originally committed to play at Oklahoma State, but was released from his commitment shortly after head coach Travis Ford was fired.

Gak is 6-11 and 205 lbs and was expected to provide depth to the Gators front court.

His ability to work out and practice with the team should allow Gak to put on necessary weight and to gain comfort in Florida head coach Mike White’s system.

  • Treon Harris will transfer from the UF program

Gainesville-  Florida WR Treon Harris will transfer from the program. Harris was granted a release of his scholarship today.
Harris has been suspended since January for a violation of school rules.

Harris played quarterback for the past two years, but Florida head coach Jim McElwain said just last week that Treon Harris was playing wide receiver this year.

If Harris transfers to a division one school he will be forced to sit out one year but will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Harris was originally a commit to Florida State but ultimately chose Florida and former head coach Will Muschamp.
